The success of last year’s inaugural Ennis Choral Festival was a “dream become reality” according to festival director Carmel Honan, and that dream continues this February Bank Holiday weekend when the county capital will again ‘Spring into Song’.
The festival is set to hit the right notes again this year with a host of events planned including choral competitions, an expanded programme of workshops, pop-up choirs, music on the streets of the town, and concerts among others.
Carmel, who has been singing choral music from her early school days in Ennis, explains that for many reasons she always felt the town could host a choral music festival.
Among them was the town’s connection with acclaimed musician Ernest De Regge, whose life was tragically cut short in the Carmody Hotel disaster of 1958
